Grant Recipients
Each year, the Burbank Arts & Education Foundation proudly supports teachers and schools throughout the Burbank Unified School District by funding innovative classroom projects and programs. These grants help bring new ideas, creative learning experiences, and essential resources directly to students. From arts education and STEM initiatives to wellness and classroom enrichment, our grant recipients play a vital role in expanding opportunities and enhancing the educational experience for Burbank students.

Elementary
Light Table for TK Bret Harte Elementary
Light table and accessories to share among three TK grade level classes creating an inclusive and equitable learning opportunity. The illuminated surface creates a multi-sensory experience that students of all abilities, including
neurodivergent learners and language learners, may access.
Marcy Cook Math Materials Bret Harte Elementary
Provides vertically aligned Marcy Cook math materials for Grades 1 & 2 to strengthen addition and subtraction, strategy development, place value understanding, and problem solving reasoning.
Books for English Learners Bret Harte Elementary
Increase the library of books for english learners and their families to check-out and bring home to encourage literacy.
Micro Forest Edison Elementary
The Micro Forest is a 532-square-foot Miyawaki-style native planting that will replace heat-absorbing asphalt with a dense, climate-resilient ecosystem of approximately 60 California native plants. it will provide shade, cooling, habitat, and biodiversity while serving as a living laboratory for student learning and ecological monitoring.
Audio Upgrades McKinley Elementary
Upgrading the wireless microphones and audio receivers in the auditorium and portable PA system.
Library Update Providencia Elementary
Funds to update and expand the school and classroom library selections.
Flexible Outdoor Seating Roosevelt Elementary
Expanding outdoor seating options for student use before school, during recess, lunch, and guided social play with teachers.
Breakout EDU Washington Elementary
Breakout EDU game kits and subscription, an educational platform that gamifies learning.
Kiln Washington Elementary
Funds to purchase a new kiln to replace the old one that no longer works.
Lunch Activities Cart Washington Elementary
Weatherproof rolling outdoor carts to store items, including board games and art supplies purchased with a previous BAEF grant.
Middle School
Digital Media Upgrade Huerta Middle
Items for the digital media classroom including repairing and replacing the USB-C ports on iMac computers, purchasing SD cards and mouse pads.
Library Garden Beautification Huerta Middle
Funds will beautify the garden area outside the library where students sit on benches during nutrition and lunch.
ASB Classroom Desktop Computers Luther Middle
Desktop computers for the ASB classroom to allow student leaders access to better technology.
Culinary Arts & Catering Luther Middle
Replace a broken double wall oven in the culinary arts and catering kitchen.
Strategies for Success Luther Middle
Strategies for Success is a supervention style elective period that supports students in academic and behavioral intervention. These funds will provide much needed materials like educational workbooks, new table for classroom seating and games that encourage positive student engagement.
String Instrument Repair Muir Middle
Repairing string instrument inventory including string replacement for violins, violas and cellos, cracked neck repair on string bass and replacing endpins on four basses.
High School
Stands, Racks, Mics & Keyboards for Instrumental Music Burbank High
Music stands and rolling storage carts for new students, contact microphones for tuners previously purchased with BAEF grant, and an instructional keyboard.
The Hippolytos Project Burbank High
Purchase drums, percussive instruments and other supplies for a run of Euripedes locally and at Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
Winter Gurard Supplies Burbank High & John Burroughs High
Upgrading and replacing supplies such as flag bags, weaponry, silks, flag poles and tarp/flooring.
Dark Room Upgrade John Burroughs High
Upgrading the Burroughs darkroom with new film print enlargers.
Sound Renovations John Burroughs High
Update and purchase essential equipment and instruments including overhead microphones, brass mutes, and upgraded clarinets for the instrumental music program.
TV Production Film & Lighting John Burroughs High
Building on the advanced Broadcast Journalism CTE pathway by providing new equipment that enables students to capture more content at a higher production quality during school events. Requested items include a cinema camera with lenses, lighting equipment, and a stabilizer for dynamic moving shots.
BUSD
Chill Zones Burbank Unified School District for all Elementary Schools
A weatherproof storage container - doors are opened at recess and lunchtime. Inside are books, pads to sit on, games, and art supplies. These provide alternate activities for students that would prefer something quieter. The principals were inspired by the Chill Zone that Disney Elementary created a few years ago. Disney will use their funds to expand their Chill Zone.
